how the simple facebook swallowed the mighty Google .........

Basically I am Google man … all I know about Google was in the year 2004 , when somebody strongly recommended me Google.co.in to search for any info on anything in the world…. As I always loved knowledge , and info … google.co.in was a heaven for me ….. in those days facebook was a unknown entity ….still , in 2004 , I was using Yahoo for email purposes ….. Thereafter Google slowly purchased the Blogger ….

When I was in Trichy, I saw a Hindu article, which mentioned about the NIT, Trichy  students using the Blogger Blogs to share their feelings …..   in those days Blogger had .com address … now it has changed in to .co.in addrees …..another signature product of Google family is the Picasa …… being a photo lover , I always got happy to post my photos, in to its lovely website www.picasa.com ….. Orkut was a success, but it declined on its own ….. the ultimate stuff of Google came in 2007 …. Yes …in that year I joined Gmail …. When I was using browsing in Delhi , one foreigner was using it … I was curiously looking on it …in those days I was still using Yahoo for email …. From the start in 2007 , I continue Gmail till date , non stop….  Ans so Google has so many lovely products …. But still the tycoon facebook has swallowed it ….. how …. All I say because of the USER FRIENDLY nature …..

we all know facebook only since 2009  … but what a growth …..  the difference between facebook and othet social sites is its simplicity and the more options it gives to the customers …. Facebook give you your own page …. It gives you opportunity to create a new group , new page in seconds …… the main secret of facebook is its non-confusing nature ….. your personal page don’t affect or get affected by your group ……your personal facebook page is totally separated from your  personal profile ….you feel the freedom …. But the new Google Plus , the social site introduced by the google is not that much ok for people like me ….  The main blunder , they did was mixing the Picasa and Google photos together ….. Google destroyed the wonderful Picasa , with their own Google Photos ….  When ever , you post a photo in Google Photos , it automatically get updated in Picasa , which most of us including me don’t like …..  so the social sites like Google Buzz, Orkut have become failures …I must admit …though Orkut was not a failure , it was totally swallowed by the facebook …that s it …… though even now I am trying to use Google Plus ,  it s not so impressive as that of facebook …sure …hardly Google plus has one tenth of facebook traffic …. Facebook rocks .... ….

Shame on us

IPL a national shame …. Long back I remember Kapil Dev and Co started the ICL in 2007 … i dono how it lost importance ….. Thereafter came the ipl in the year 2008………….. Seasons after seasons …frauds after frauds ….though fraud and money laundering could be a common practice where there is enough money and power ……initially Lalit Modi was blamed ….

He was told to be in possession of private air craft..blob ..blob.. blob… he was chucked out …  Then came srinivasan as a treasurer

…. The ipl fraud involving the sreesanth episode is a shocker ….  I always thought he was a emotional person doing funny mad activities…. But he seems to be an infected lot….  It a shame that cricketers getting enormous money from its team owners , still want more money through bookies… what does it mean … there is no limit to a man’s needs … if I give you 1000 rupees free , you may want another thousand …if I give you one lakh , you may expect one more lakh through different means …  money , call girls , murder , ego, insults , bookies, betting syndicates  …  what a shame … the pune warriers has pulled out of the tournament before game get finishes…. What a shame … the team owner cannot even organize properly ….  Even though pune warriers is a pucca average team , this incident is another shame ….. I simply think the people who are going to the grounds and watching the game are nothing but fools ..sorry for my words …. Lets see the drama … initially Sreesanth , then now Srinivasan ….. We Indians as a society have to blame ourselves …..

visit to Royal Demazong ...Gangtok

Though i visit the town (Gangtok) , quiet often, generally i limit my posts to facebook only ...my last post on a trip around Gangtok was , last year in 2012.....  for the past few days i was thinking about visiting the club mahindra property Royal Demazong resort  in the periphery of gangtok ...  it got materiolised today morning ....

i called up my regular cab driver Mr Lakpa yesterday ... luckily he was free and agreed to come with us ..... we planned for the lunch at the resort ..... we started at around 1230 in the afternoon ..... for a few minutes we were stranded in the traffic jam around gangtok ... journey was ok, except for a few patches on the roadside .....though Mr Lakpa know this place , he had little difficulty in identifying the place ....  but sharply we reached the resort at 1300 hrs .... they approach road from the main road is steep ...  we were welcomed by the resort manager .... young and cheerful person he was .... he took us to the Orchid restaurant .... what a lovely place ...what a cool atmosphere .... we went to the top of the resort to see the views ...as usual there was a heavy mist in the afternoon .....

we could identify a swimming pool, a play area for children ....  they maintain absolute privacy for the guests ..... i could see dont disturb tags on the doors ..... we enjoyed the climate which was absolutely cool...  we slogged on at the restaurant ..... so many tourist families were silently enjoying the afternoon with wonderful lunch .....

we had french fries, spring rolls as starters .... tawa parotta , veg biriyani, raita , mix veg subji ..... it was heavenly ... we refused the desserts as we planned to have further at Gangtok....

after finishing the wonderful lunch , reached MG Marg at Gangtok ...said good bye to Lakpa and slogged at MG Marg ....

had ice cream... kwality cornetto , and Amul ice cream too ...    as the time blossomed to taste the wonderful tea at Golden tips shop today ......   had chocolate brownie at the Cafe Coffee Day ... completed the afternoon snack at Deys sweet corner with Gulab Jamun , samosa ....  it was again a wonderful afternoon .....
loved every moment of it ... praying God to give us opportunity to be with such nature always .....

Raja Mirasudar Hospital (RMH) , Thanjavur ..... Going back in to history

34 year old young Prince of Wales Edward VII from England visited India in 1875…. He had visited Thanjavur too …. (but Some sources say , he came only up to Vallam , and did not touch Thanjavur because of the Cholera epidemic in Tanjore at that time…It is certain , during later part of 19th century southern India was severely affected by Cholera… Prince of Wales had cancelled so many of his programs) …….British Empire had already started in India ….. By 1855 Maratha Rule had already ended in Thanjavur ….Shivaji II who was the last titular Maratha King, died in 1855….  British had completely taken over Thanjavur under Madras Presidency…. ….. Meeting and receiving the future king of England was unthinkable opportunity for the British Officials in those days …. Commemoration is a common practice …. Whenever King or prince visits a part of his empire, Officials had to commemorate that …..Some sources say, that The prince of Wales had expressed his willingness to build a Hospital in Tanjore…. that is how started the story of our RMH (Rajah Mirasudar Hospital) and a Medical School (Teaching Institution) ….... British Collector by that time must have started thinking, how to go about the Medical School and the New Hospital Project...Finally the time had come…there was no famine during 1876 and 1877 .. British Government was firm in establishing a Hospital as Thanks Offering….….The Great British Collector HS Thomas (HENRY SULLIVAN THOMAS) must have put on extra effort in it .. In fact he had only a short tenure (one year)  in Thanjavur...(1878---1879)… within that one year , he was able to push things and start / inaugurate the hospital straight away in 1879… Now we should know about a lady called RANI KAMATCHIAMBA BAI SAHEB …. She was the widow of the last Maratha King of Thanjavur , Shivaji II (whom I mentioned earlier)  … Though the Maratha king lost his state to the British , he was left with enormous private wealth … naturally , the widow lady of expired king had enormous private wealth … . The Lady, RANI KAMATCHIAMBA BAI SAHEB, did a good thing… She donated her 40 acres of land in the center of the city (unquestionably the best in the town) ….She might have distributed the multi-billion property to her Marathi relatives … but she did not … She simply handed over her property to the British Collector HS Thomas in 1878… Even today, you can see many memorials in the name of RANEE in Thanjavur…. The reason must be the pure affection of the people towards the Lady. There was also contribution from the other Raja’s Royal Family too…Rs 30000 came from the Charities of Maratha Raja Family …. Not only Maratha family …but our own, Land lords (Mirasdars) of Tanjore district , handed over huge money to the British collector , to build the Hospital…. I just mention few among them with their contribution amount… Mr THIRUPANANDHAL THAMBARAN paid Rs 5000….. the value of Rupees 5000 must be most valuable in 1878 …right??? …then Mr KAPISTHALAM DURASAMY MUPANAR Rupees 2500……. Then Mr PORAYAR V. THIRUVARSU MUTHU NADAR gave Rupees 2000…. Then the T. GOPALAKRISTNAR PILLAY….. so many great hearts contributed for our HOSPITAL (I am sorry ..i might have left so many names)  ….. Finally thus started our hospital and a medical school in 1880, …The total cost of the buildings for the hospital amounted to nearly Rs 66000… British collectors did a good thing …. Along with the Raja Mirasudar Hospital, they firmly established a Medical School. (Teaching Institution) …They named the New Medical School as H.R.H PRINCE OF WALES MEDICAL SCHOOL ….. (His Royal Highness Prince of Wales Medical School) …one interesting fact ….It was also called as Tanjore Medical School………Rs 100000 came from the (MADRAS PRESIDENCY) Government securities , to build this Medical School...... ….The main hall of the Hospital and the School was named as THOMAS HALL , after the British Collector who tirelessly worked for the creation of the hospital and the Medical School…Thus came the THOMAS HALL……Finally with the great contributions ,two Institutions started simultaneously in 1880….1) RMH HOSPITAL and 2) H.R.H PRINCE OF WALES MEDICAL SCHOOL … Naturally the hospital was named as Raja Mirasudar Hospital ... The school and the Hospital excelled in it’s performance. Do you know the yearly intake of the number of students?.....It was just fifteen…The Board of Examination was exactly the same as that of other two other medical school in MADRAS PRESIDENCY at that time… The entry qualification for entry in to these schools was an SSLC Pass and marks above presidency average(With good marks in English, Elementary Mathematics and Science)……The diploma  offered in those days was called LMP…(Licensed Medical Practitioner) .It was a four years course…The annual fee ranged from Rs 60 to Rs 100…(based on the category of students) ..There was gradual development through the years … A separate building for the treatment of out patients was started in 1898 by the Governor of Madras…In 1902 , it was one of the best hospitals in Madras Presidency…. The annual record for the year 1902, goes this way…. Inpatients 1537…..Outpatients 29000…. 100 OPD Patients per day ….It was OK ……… Naturally all Medical Officers were British…. The Hospital and the Medical School was under British Army Medical Service called IMS (Indian Medical Service) ….. One of the great superintendents of our hospital was LIEUT . COL . W.R.J. . SCROGGIE .CIE. IMS …. He improved the hospital very much paving the way for new buildings …My salutes to him…after all he is on par with our Dean …... In 1918, the British Government further improved the Medical School by creating new buildings…In 1918 , Sir Alexander Cardew , Madras Legislatice Council Member , opened the new Buildings….As per records , the prestigious medical school existed up to 1928……Now it is not clear , what exactly happened to the school in early thirties… The school was disbanded, probably, because of financial reasons…. So out of two brothers (RMH HOSPITAL AND MEDICAL SCHOOL), one disappeared ….sad …. (The medical school disappeared) ……We should be proud , that RMH , was associated with a prestigious medical school , nearly for about 50 years from 1880 to 1930….. No official records are available regarding the real reason for the closure of the medical school. After Independence, in 1949, Rotary Club of Thanjavur made huge contribution to our RMH and augmented the Maternity Wing….. Thereafter no full stops…. No doubt...our RMH was/is a prestigious institution on par with Stanley and Madras Medical College …….. So we were born and became Doctors, using our great RMH….. bi friends ….i may edit this , if I get more information and time

VARANASI TRIP

First of all I feel sorry for using the term about this place Varanasi as terrible. Not this place is terrible, but some conditions were terrible. I narrate my story.
I wanted to have a glimpse of this unique place Varanasias a stopover point on the way to Gangtok.  Because of a lot of things have been told about this place.  After getting down at the Varanasi Railway station at around 1700 hrs I was as usual surrounded by a group of touts, Auto agents, Hotel agents etc. Here everything could be costly if you are care less. One porter took my luggage to Auto point. He charged an rate of Rs 100/-
I went to the hotel Surya by an auto which cost me Rs50/-

Scene in Kedarghat

Scene in Kedarghat in evening ... Lecture by a Sanyasi

I tell you guys Hotel Surya is one of the best recommended place in Varanasi for stay.
I came out of the hotel again and took an auto for four hour ride which he charged me Rs 300/-
The place he took me at first was to Kedar Ghat. This is one of the main ghat (Bathing Point) and also the boating point also.
But when I turned my heads around I got shocked to see the dead bodies kept covered in saffron clothing, waiting for the final rites.  Burning.  That was the scene which I saw in nearby Harichandra Ghat. There were   so many VETTIYANS as well as middlemen were talking to each other. The relatives of dead souls were waiting with great grief for their turn to come. I was moved terribly by the scenes.  I have seen waiting list at railway reservation centres, banks, schools, ration kadais, But terrible to see that in burning Ghats.
Then I took that photograph of Marine drive like one, which you people saw in my early message.
Here photography of burning bodies is a sin and as considered as mark of disrespect to the departed souls. So we must be very careful. Some westerners were trying to take photographs of them clandestinely.

Next day morning I engaged the same auto fellow for an outing. He took me to the main boating point at Kedar ghat. Boating in the Ganges River is a must inVaranasi. You can see great scenes sitting in the boat. You can take great pictures.  I have taken my pictures. Please go through my photo album.  Initially the boat man asked me Rs900/- for the to and fro ride. He was simply merciless. Then the auto man and myself looked around some decent guy who accepted Rs300/- for to and pro ride. The scenes along the banks of Ganga were fantastic. The boat ride along the Ganga ride with view of various ghats is wonderful one. My photos can tell you a lot.

Then next challenging activity is visiting the famous Viswanath temple. I have never seen such a security. For going to viswanath temple, you should step down at banks river ganga. Then you should walk up and up. There are multiple lanes through which you should criss cross. You cannot enter the temple complex with the following items. Match box, Pen, mobile phone, camera, bag etc. They simply allow you and your dress, your purse, flowers for offering inside the complex. They check even the flowers thoroughly. You are naturally forced to drop your bags etc to the flower merchant shop. He charged me Rs150/- for flowers.  I entered through the Gate No 2.  When I entered inside the temple I got the size of the main temple. It is a small complex. With lots of people pulling and pushing it was bit hectic experience. Lots of Hindu priests was tapping the back of devotes. You are expected to pay something. I paid him Rs 20/- . He accepted that. Actually the priests were not so compelling the devotees as it was told earlier.  After visiting main deity I came out to find some shocking scenes surrounding the temple. There is a pure white mosque in the adjacent complex. The mosque is surrounded by big gates which are so thick and so high that you may not see even in Indo Pak border. There are hundreds of police are at posts, watching every things. All gated are provided with CC cameras. You cannot come out of unauthorised gates. You cannot enter any gate if it is not authorised.  Somebody told me that the original temple was at the place where the Mosque remains. The original temple was destroyed by Aurangzeb or somebody like him. The localites, it is believed to have strong intentions to reinstall the temple in its original ancient location. That is the reason for the tension.
The boatman boy then took me to a surprising place called Visalakshi temple. This temple is in lanes very near to Viswanath temple.  The temple is maintained by Tamilians. In the outer walls of the temple it was written words of some Chettiar in Tamil.  The temple was like typical south Indian Gopuram style. All walls are inscribed with Tamil wordings. Outside the temple the name is mentioned as Visalakshi temple in Tamil letters.  Then after visiting this place me and my boat man had good cup of tea at a nearby place.
Unfortunately I could not photograph them, as photography is strictly not allowed over there.  We came back again to Ganges River to find a burning ghat called Manika ghat . That is the main burning ghat of Varanasi. I was moved by the scenes. You can feel only when you see them physically. Then I returned to the boating point, (Kedar ghat) by the same boat man.
The boatman told me the following dead bodies will never be taken for burning at the Ghats.
Pregnant ladies, Young children, People affected by Leukoderma (Ven Kushtam).
I think they cannot be purified by these rituals.

In Varanasi the a loop is maintained
If you go to a hotel
They will recommend you to a auto man.
Auto man will take you to the bank of Ganges and connect you with a boatman.
Boatman will act both as boat rider and as well as a guide.
Boatman will connect you to the flower merchant and the priest.
Priest will recommend you another good temple and connect you to a new Priest.
When you come back completing all these things, the auto man will connect you to the Restaurants of his choice.
Finally when you check out of the hotel, the hotel man will connect you to a taxi man for journey to the airport or Railway station.

Loops and connections are there everywhere.
Every time you are in the loop your purse may lose Rs300/- etc.
Lots of money is involved.

My next point was the prestigious Sarnath where the same auto man took me.
Sarnath has a wonderful top class museum with great master pieces of Art.
The original piece of our national emblem is the master piece of attraction.
They collect Rs 5/- for entry.
Photography is strictly not allowed inside the museum.
They area is neat and clean.

Nearby are the Bhudda gardens. It has great structures of King Ashoka times.
They are marvellous piece of art.
Luckily they can be photographed.
As usual I could see some young couples finding pleasures of life at this deer gardens where Lord Bhudda preached his first sermon to his disciples some 2500 years ago.
Sarnath is a must place to visit.
No body should miss it
Hallow all,
Please have a look at my photographs.

I think you people can visit this place.
This is one of the unique place in India
I am planning and looking for a visit with my wife and parents.

Bi all

blogger used to be one of the great product under Google umbrella ....  on one fine day in 2011, i did a stupid thing ... on some idea , i deleted my blog account ...i had entered lovely articles on restaurants and other tour feeds .... now getting back them in impossible ....anyway  .....
I am cursing the facebook , for eating away the wonderful Google products including blogger ...
